Who IS The Vinyl Chica?
Well, to sum it up in short, The Vinyl Chica is me, Lillian “Lil” Thompson. I’m a married woman living in Middle Georgia with my loving hubby, Hutch. My whole life I have been drawn to the creative side of things but never had much courage to stick to my guns and pursue a career in it. Until recent years, that is.
A few years ago, I started a jewelry reselling “business” with some friends on Facebook. I had a very successful sales group called Thompson’s Trinkets & Treasures. After losing my Mom in June of 2019, I was ready to let the group go and left it in the capable hands of a few ladies who then changed its name and reorganized into another successful selling group. At this time, I was in no place emotionally to continue doing any sort of business so I just sat in my depression until I decided it was time to do something else.
I then decided to use my Cricut and my love of all things artsy and created The Vinyl Chica. Why The “Vinyl” Chica? Well, because I started selling items that I created in whole or in part with my Cricut vinyl cutting machine. No, I don’t sell vinyl albums…though I do love them. I personalize things with Vinyl, or cardstock, or sticker paper, or a dozen of other things that the machine can handle. I love putting smiles on people’s faces and creating things that they think up. It brings me so much joy to see the final result, even after fussing for a bit and maybe cussing a couple times at it, lol. In the end, the final product makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something and better than that, I’m making someone else smile.
In the las month, a couple of dear online friends of mine, decided they might want to expand their side hustle a bit and sent me a laser, an XTool F1 Laser, to be exact. So this brings me to this latest version of The Vinyl Chica, complete with this website, online shop and blog. They challenged me in the following way…they said “Lil, if you use the laser for a year and you aren’t making any money, we will take it back and use it as our second laser. However, if after a year, you are making money, then consider sharing a small portion of your profits with us. Either way, there is no obligation. We want you to try it for a year and we’ll go from there.” So, I jumped at this opportunity, have been learning how to use the laser, how to personalize a plethora of new items, and BAM, here we are again in the gift personalization business. But I have not stopped working with vinyl. I am doing both, as well as, sublimation. So keep an eye out as I add more products showcasing that side of my business.
So that’s it. That’s who The Vinyl Chica is. But one more thing, I am also a woman with a heart for people, a love of people, and I am here to help you in any way I can. So if you see a product somewhere and you don’t see it here but think I may be able to make it, message me, I’m happy to try and will be brutally honest with you, and myself, if I can’t do it. I look forward to getting to know you all!
Love and blessings,
Lil
